To be completely honest with you, I wasn’t really excited about my trip to Tenerife in the beginning. I never wanted to go there. I never even considered it as a bucket list material. Funnily enough, it was on my “never to go to” list, along with Turkey, Egypt and Thailand.
For some unknown reason I always thought that Tenerife and Canary Islands in general are overrated and overcrowded. I also used to roll my eyes every time when someone said, “Oh, I had such a great vacay in Canary Islands!”. I never could understand what was so great about it. “Palms, sand, ocean… so what? What makes it special?”, I sometimes wondered.
So, imagine my surprise when after a long internet search, I realized that Tenerife was the only affordable option for me. Of course, I could skip the trip altogether and stay in Finland… But I had absolutely no desire in staying home. I needed sun and warm weather. I was in desperate need for a real vacation, so I put my feelings aside and ordered the holiday package. And in that moment I was almost 100% sure I’ll regret making this decision.
But now, looking back I feel so happy that my limited budget led me to Tenerife. A beautiful and magical island that simply blew me away.
7 things I liked about Tenerife:
- Incredible and unique nature
- Delicious and cheap sea food
- Delicious and cheap wine
- Friendly people
- Variety of beaches
- Sunsets
- Spectacular and breathtaking views
Los Gigantes, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Would I come here again? Definitely! I’ve already started making a to-do list for the next visit:
- excursion to palm plantation
- winery experience
- road trip to Mirador la Tarta
- road trip San Cristóbal de La Laguna
- trip to La Gomera
Hope you enjoyed it!

Hello.
I love also Tenerife in addition to Gran Canarias. Las Palmas is my favorite place. It is underrated, but it is worth for a visit. Las Palmas offers for example wonderful beach Las Canteras, wonderful excursions, Bandama crater, House of Columbus and awesome surfing possibilities.
I have made only four posts about it and here is the first one with links to other posts:

Happy and safe travels!

Good day! I’ve been only to Tenerife so far and hadn’t had the chance to visit any other place on Canary Islands. Yet 🙂 But at least now I understand why people love it so much.
Thank you for the link, I’ll check it out! 🙂
