Usually when we are planning our holiday, we go through the hotel and apartment options given to us by the ebookers.com. And before ordering accommodation we always check reviews on TripAdvisor to avoid unpleasant surprises. Lesson learned, London, lesson learned! Anyways, if reviews are good or average, we book the place. I call it travel accommodation hunting. And just like any other hunting it is time-consuming, and it takes a lot of patience. Now, when you are buying a last-minute holiday package like we did on aurinkomatkat.fi, there is not much to choose from, and you just take what is offered. Sometimes it’s like buying a pig in a poke, or cat in a sack, if you will. And in our case, it was Vigilia Park Apartment hotel, located in Los Gigantes.
Luckily, travellers’ reviews on TripAdvisor were mostly OK, and the photos of the place and rooms looked nice. So, I had my hopes but the same time I didn’t let my guard down. I guess you can say that I’m a bit suspicious by nature. But surprisingly, I was not stressing out much about it because I knew that it cannot be and will not be as bad or worse as our regrettable experience in London with Hotel Olympia (49 Earl’s Court Square). And when we arrived, I was more curious than worried.
I’ve been to an apartment-hotel before, but it looked like an ordinary apartment building. As for Vigilia Park… well, it reminded me of Silja Line cruise ship and its Promenade. There were souvenir shops, tour booths, eateries, etc.
The staff in the reception were friendly and welcoming. They said that our room was ready, even though we arrived two hours before the check-in, and gave us the keys.
I was a bit scared and excited at the same time, when I was opening the door of our apartment, which would be our home for the next seven days. And as soon as I entered, my jaw dropped. It was spacious! It had even a balcony. And stairs that led to the second floor. We had the second floor!!! I mean how cool is that?!
But let’s start from the beginning. When we entered the apartment, we ended up in the corridor. First door on our right was the bathroom:
Next door, or actually doorway without a door led to a good-size kitchen:
Some might say that it’s small, but if you have never been to Budapest apartment, then you have no idea what the small kitchen actually looks like, he-he.
I thought it would be a nice place for taking sunbaths.
Spiral staircase, view from the top:
Another corridor, another bathroom, our bedroom…
And another balcony, but with the much better view!
Atlantic Ocean… La Gomera island… Los Gigantes…
And it wasn’t even the best part! We also had access to the swimming pools. One was located downstairs, next to the Vigilia Park restaurant “La Tasca”, and second one was on the rooftop. We could actually see it from our balcony. It has bar, lovely terrace and spectacular panoramic view that made me cry from happiness. I don’t exaggerate, I was crying, for real. I can’t even describe how much I needed this.
I stood there for quite some time, absorbed in the mesmerizing beauty of Nature. I finally felt at piece.
So, I think it goes without saying that Vigilia Park Apartments have exceeded all my expectations!
Hope you enjoyed it!
